Out here on our little Scandinavian-inspired homestead, we spend a lot of time together as a familyโ€”working the land, tending animals, homeschooling, cooking, cleaning, doing all the everyday things that keep a house and a farm like ours moving forward. And while that togetherness is such a blessing, we realized something important: not all time together feels the same. This is how our simple strawberry banana smoothie came to be.

It wasnโ€™t until our daughter looked at us with those big, honest eyes and said,
โ€œCan we have a family night? With a movieโ€ฆ popcornโ€ฆ and a smoothie?โ€
that everything shifted.

Her simple request tugged at our hearts. We didnโ€™t even know we needed a weekly family nightโ€”but we did. And since starting this little tradition, the end of each week feels like a warm lantern glowing through a winter window. We slow down, laugh more and talk more. We reconnect after the busyness of farm life.

And somehowโ€ฆ the smoothies became everyoneโ€™s favorite part.

So today, weโ€™re sharing our family-night strawberry banana smoothie recipeโ€”the one weโ€™ve made so many times we could probably blend it blindfolded. Itโ€™s simple, sweet, wholesome, and feels like a small celebration in a glass.

Easy Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

A refreshing, healthy treat your whole family will loveโ€”perfect for family nights, after-school snacks, or a quick breakfast on the go.

What You’ll Need

  • A frozen bag of mixed fruit (Strawberry & Banana) You can use fresh but freeze them first.
  • Juice (we recommend White Grape, Peach, Pear or Apple Juice)
  • Equipment: Blender
  • Vanilla

This is a flexible, toss-and-taste recipe. Adjust as needed to your preferred thickness and sweetness.

How to Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Step 1: Add the Frozen Fruit

Keep your fruit completely frozenโ€”this gives your smoothie that thick, creamy texture.

Fill your blender about halfway with the frozen strawberry-banana mix.

Step 2: Add the Juice

Pour in about ยฝ cup of juice to start.
(You can always add more.)

We recommend:

  • White Grape
  • Peach
  • Pear
  • Apple

Avoid orange juiceโ€”it tends to make the smoothie a bit too tart.

Blend until smooth.

Step 3: Adjust to Taste

Like a thicker smoothie? Add more fruit.
Need to thin it? Add more juice.

Blend again until you reach your perfect consistency.

Step 4: Add the Vanilla

Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla for that warm, cozy flavor that pairs so beautifully with berries.

Blend one last time.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Pour into your favorite cups, add a straw if youโ€™re feeling fancy, and enjoy your delicious, creamy smoothie.

Strawberry and Banana Smoothie

A Simple Treat That Brings Families Together

This strawberry banana smoothie has become a little tradition of its own here at Sweet Mommaโ€™s Farm. Even in winterโ€”when the air is crisp and our Icelandic sheep are fluffed up in their woolโ€”we still cozy up with our cold smoothies during family night with the woodburning stove crackling in the background. Thereโ€™s something sweet about savoring simple things, especially with the people God has entrusted to us.

Whether you’re gathering your children around the table or treating yourself after a long day of homestead chores, this smoothie brings a touch of joy to any season.
