Our Story

My name is Samara, but you can call me Sam. This is our story.

I never imagined I’d end up doing what I do now. I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and remain a strong follower who deeply believes in our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Growing up, I thought I’d be a mother in a lively, chaotic household filled with kids running to sports and activities. Our home is still noisy and chaotic—just in a different way.

My husband and I met in college. After our first child was born, I chose to be a stay-at-home mom but still wanted to pursue another career. That path turned out to be much harder than I expected. Slowly, I realized God had other plans for me—though sometimes I’m slow to listen. It was a painful journey, but one that helped me grow.

During this time, as we tried for more children, I started learning how to can and grow a garden. Then COVID-19 hit, and I quickly realized how much we relied on the grocery store for our food. That wake-up call led me down a new path of discovery and learning—but let’s start at the beginning.

After the “pandemic” we decided to grow our family through adoption. Since the medical community offered no answers about having more children, adoption became our hopeful next step. We were excited but knew it could be costly. To help raise funds, I began sewing and making items to sell. Over the past five years, I’ve sewn much of the clothing for my daughter and myself, which has been a joyful way to grow our family wardrobe.

Then life tested me again. Extreme stress led to a serious illness that triggered an autoimmune disease. It was hard, but in hindsight, a blessing in disguise. During this time, we also started a little homestead. Through it all, God helped me discover something extraordinary about motherhood and marriage that He wanted me to learn. I wish I’d realized it sooner. Because of this revelation, I stopped chasing a worldly career and chose to fully embrace the divine role He gave me.

Not only did God reveal my purpose, but He also led me to an herbalist who helped me heal with herbs and a better diet. Once I was healed from my autoimmune, we began a path toward healing that gave us hope to grow our family again.

With this renewed strength, we started to grow our little homestead—named after our favorite and first Icelandic sheep, Sweet Momma. She truly runs the show! With help from our animals, I now make my own soap, shampoo, body butter, yogurt, cheese, cleaning supplies, and so much more.

Recently, we were blessed with pregnancy again, but sadly experienced a miscarriage. I share this not to bring sadness, but to offer hope. We know our bodies are healing, and soon our family will grow—not just with animals.

Over these years, we have learned so much. We want to share our journey of faith, family, and freedom through the naturally simple life we strive to live. If you’re facing similar struggles or just want to live closer to God and nature, I hope you’ll join me. Come walk alongside this farm momma striving to live like a pioneer in a modern world.
